A recent tyre monitoring system mandate means LSM Technologies’ TyreGuard ® TMSystems are becoming more important for Australian bus and coach companies
As of July 6 this year, the European Union (EU) has mandated tyre monitoring systems (TMSystems) for all buses, trucks, trailers and articulated trucks.
This means some of the world’s best fit-for-purpose heavy-duty mitigation technology for buses for more than 20 years, like what LSM Technologies supply, becomes vital for European buses.
LSM’s TyreGuard TMSystems has been covering bus tyres for years as the systems also provide a vital safeguard to keep companies and their assets safe.
TMSystems have been mandated for all passenger vehicles and was first legislated by the USA Tread Act as of 2008.
Since then, TMSystems have come to be valued worldwide as an important and critical safety mitigation control for all types of heavy vehicles.
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturing Association says previous surveys have shown that buses consistently drive between 40 and 65 per cent of the distances they travel on under-inflated tyres.
This is where TMSystems like the ones offered by LSM Technologies come into play.
These systems have been proven to provide life-saving benefits, enhanced safety and environmental savings, with the EU now mandating this technology on all commercial vehicles from July 6 onwards.
This latest EU Regulation 141 impacts the Australian industry, as imported buses into the country may come fitted with TMSystems.
With many heavy vehicles imported from the EU, LSM says it won’t be long before Australia may soon see many of these vehicles being offered with factory fitted TMSystems.
