Major television manufacturer Konka and Smartisan OS, the original R&D team for Smartisan which was acquired by ByteDance, cooperated to develop a screen operating system on Monday, marking the first time that ByteDance has entered the TV screen industry chain.
Zhu Zhongqing, the general manager of Konka China’s Marketing Division, said that after 2017, overall sales of the color TV industry in China were decreasing, which was caused by reduced demand for replacement and smartphone growth. However, with the rapid popularization of 5G, the public’s demand for large-screen devices has increased, such as for gaming, shopping, online courses, and music, which has become a new market growth point.
At a press conference on Monday, Konka launched a new smart screen, the APHAEA A6 Pro, which is equipped with a brand-new operating system co-developed alongside the Smartisan OS team. It supports separate screens, multiple control modes and wide-ranging applications.
The new screen can be controlled by touch, remote mouse, smartphones, voice, traditional remotes, and other means.
Konka has previously introduced a rotating screen that supports watching videos in horizontal and vertical positions. By cooperating with the Smartisan OS team, Konka will seek to achieve new breakthroughs. Compared with smartphones, the TV screen represents a new scenario within which ByteDance apps like Douyin and Xigua Video can be applied to reach more users.

Zhu revealed that Konka will dig deep into the heightened demand for smart screens, and plans to launch the 2.0 version of its rotating screen in the second half of this year.
