Most modern homes own several entertainment devices. And if you own a bunch of devices in your living room, you probably have a bunch of misplaced remotes too. It comes with the territory, I guess. For those who have grown tired of hunting for the correct remote control for the correct tech, there’s a simple and inexpensive solution: an RCA Universal Remote (programmed with all the necessary codes). The brand produces a line of well-priced universal remotes that are easy to use and easy to program.

If you’re an entertainment buff, there’s a lot to love about how you spend your free time. With so many movies, TV shows, DVDs and video games, there’s nothing more satisfying than settling down to consume any of the breathtaking options before you. There’s one problem that you probably can’t shake out of your mind though, and that’s probably having to sift through a trove of remote controls (usually stuck underneath someone’s butt) before you’re able to navigate through any one of your devices.

If this annoyance is growing towards the forefront of your viewing experience, don’t panic just yet. Fortunately for you, there’s an inexpensive way to turn this nightmare into a dream come true. Thanks to RCA, you can finally have a one size fits all solution to your entertainment navigation. The RCA brand is one that produces a line of reasonably priced universal remotes for people to use.

To use an RCA remote, there’s nothing too demanding that is required. You’ll simply have to ensure that all you’re A/V components are connected and plugged in before programming the remote. Also, you’ll definitely need the remote itself too.

We’ll explain the process through a step-by-step guide if you’re wondering how to program an RCA universal remote. Additionally, we’ll also show you how to program the RCA universal remote codes manually if you need to.

To get started, the first thing you’ll need to do is ensure that your brand new TV remote has the batteries placed correctly, and like we stated above, ensure that your components are properly hooked up in sync. Now, let’s dive into how you’ll link the universal remote to the hardware. There are different ways to this, so we’ve covered them below.

Step 1: Ensure that your batteries are working.

Step 2: Turn on the component or device you’d like to setup with the RCA controller. This could be your home theater gear, Smart TV, cable box, satellite box, CD player, soundbar, home entertainment system, streaming player or any other similar device.

For this demonstration, let’s picture a setup process for the TV.

Step 3: Now, you’ll need to hold both the TV button and the On/Off button simultaneously.

Step 4: Once you’re sure that you’ve got both buttons, release the grip once the On / Off button lights up. Ensure that it remains lit.

Step 5: Now, you should press and release the Play button on your RCA remote. If your TV (or component that you’re programming) refuses to turn off after five seconds, hit the Play button every five seconds until the TV turns off.

Step 6: Next, you have to press and release the Reverse button. You’ll need to wait and see if your TV turns back on. Keep pressing the Reverse button every three seconds until it comes on.

Step 7: Press and release the Stop button to save the device’s programming within your remote’s memory.

Step 8: Repeat steps 1-7 for any new device you wish to pair with your RCA remote in order to enjoy its benefits across your suite of devices.

Note: If you press the incorrect buttons, you might end up causing issues with the sync mechanism. There’s an interesting learning curve to setting this up successfully, so don’t be too disappointed if you don’t get it completely right on the first try. A bit of trial and error is needed, but it will all be worth it once your devices are connected. If you reach a point where you have to start over, simply restart the hardware, take out your remote’s batteries and slot them back in. After that, follow the steps once again.

Step 2: Turn on your TV.

Step 3: Hold down the TV button of your universal remote and wait until you see the power button light up.

Step 4: Keep holding the TV button, then proceed to input the first marked code. (Keep in mind that the digit codes will be four to five digits long depending on the model of your remote.)

Step 5: After entering the device code, keep holding on to the TV button. If your Power button is still illuminated, that is an indication that the code has been entered correctly. Let go of the TV button and begin testing device commands. If all is as it should be, then commands like Volume Up/Down, Menu and Power should now be able to control your TV.

Step 6: If your Power button blinks four times, that is unfortunately the signal that indicates your device code as incorrect. You’ll need to go back through the process we laid out between steps 2-4 for the next available code within the booklet.

Step 7: Repeat all the steps we’ve explained above for each device you wish to integrate with the direct programming method by adding the RCA Universal remote codes.

Having the convenience of an RCA remote is a comfort that every household should make an attempt to get. Once you’ve got it fully set up with the right RCA Universal remote codes, you’ll never feel overwhelmed with the number of devices laid out in front of you.

While you could always read the user manual for the devices you own in order to find universal remote control codes, let’s be honest, not many of us keep the user manuals around. The below code lists should help. Of course, there are probably many other devices that require different codes, but this should be a good place to start looking for the brand you own.
