With the help of your Amazon Fire TV Stick, also called Firestick, a media streaming device, you can stream videos, play music and also install various applications on your television. The Amazon Firestick comes with a remote, a handy and small device, but one can also lose it.
You don't need the remote that comes with the Firestick to control it to enjoy your Netflix web series. You can still watch your favorite web series even if you lose your Amazon Firestick remote.
You can download the Fire TV app and use it as a remote control if you are an iPhone or an Android user. After the app is downloaded, it will allow you to connect to any Firestick on the same Wi-Fi network.
You must ensure that your smartphone and your Firestick are connected to the same Wi-Fi network to use the Firestick remote app. If you want to check the Wi-Fi network your Firestick is on, just go to the Settings menu and then select Network.
After your smartphone and Firestick are connected to the Wi-Fi network, follow these steps to use the app.
Step 1: Download the Fire TV app on your Android or iPhone and open it. You will be asked to give the Fire TV app Local Network permission. Click on Sure.
Step 2: If you want, you can also enable the notifications. The app will start looking for fire TV devices connected to Wi-Fi. Once your Firestick comes on the list, tap it.
Step 3: You will see a four-digit code on your TV screen. Enter the code into the app.
Step 4: Wait for a while and the devices will connect. Your Firestick will go back to the home screen and remote control will be shown in the app.
In case your Fire TV app cannot find the Firestick or the two won't connect, then disconnect both the devices from the internet and try reconnecting them. You can also tap 'Set Up New Device' and log into your Amazon account.
There are two kinds of remotes offered by the Fire TV app. If you are an Android user, you will get an extra remote.
-The Directional Pad has four directional buttons and is also the default one. You can use the middle button for confirming or selecting things.
-On a swipe gesture remote, you can swipe your hand across to tap or move to select or confirm things.
-Android users also have access to the Mini Remote that appears on the lock screen of the phone and also on the notification panel.
It is to be noted that all the remotes have separate buttons for going back to the home screen, rewinding, fast-forwarding, pausing, playing and opening a menu. If you want to switch between different remotes, go to the Fire TV app's remote and click on the gear icon present at the top-left corner. You will get a screen where you can enable or disable different remotes.
